Christine M. La Place

Christine La Place joined the State University of New York in September 2014 as Associate Counsel. Christine is responsible for overseeing all legal matters for Farmingdale State College and the SUNY College at Old Westbury.

Prior to joining Office of Counsel, Christine spent seventeen years representing public school districts on Long Island serving as general and labor counsel.  For the last eleven years as an associate and then partner at an education law firm, Christine handled all aspects of contract negotiations, arbitrations, representation before administrative agencies including the Public Employment Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Division of Human Rights, and the Office for Civil Rights.  She also prosecuted employee disciplinary and student disciplinary matters, counseled public school districts relative to compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations, and policy issues.  Prior to such time, Christine worked as an associate attorney for six years at another education law firm representing public school districts.

Christine received her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn law School in 1997 and graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1993.  She is admitted to practice in New York State courts, Eastern District of New York, Connecticut State courts and the Territorial Courts of the Virgin Islands of the United States.
