Jean A. Sampson

Jean Sampson joined The State University of New York as an Associate Counsel in March 2005. Prior to joining the Office of University Counsel, she was in private practice in New York, New York for over 15 years where her primary areas of practice were mergers and acquisitions, transactions, private equity, venture capital and securities law. Ms. Sampson responsibilities include the State University of New York at Stony Brook, the University Hospital, the University Hospital's RHIO and the University's incubators.  She handles transactional matters; corporate formation; real property issues and leases; contractual matters, with a specialty in software licenses; grants; and gifts and pledges, among other matters.  She graduated from New York University School of Law (J.D. 1982; Editor of the Law Review) and Jackson College, Tufts University (A.B., Magna Cum Laude 1979).  She is also a graduate of The French Culinary Institute and has worked as a professional baker.
