Education Abroad and Financial Manager

Claudia Hernandez joined the Office of Global Affairs (OGA) at the State University of New York in 2004 and currently is the Education Abroad and Financial Manager.  She is responsible for the review and approval process of SUNY study abroad programs and serves as liaison between SUNY System Administration and the SUNY Council on International Education assisting campuses with study abroad and exchange programs.  In her capacity as Financial Manager, she monitors the OGA budget and serves as liaison to the Research Foundation’s Office of Sponsor Programs as the global affairs grant manager.

Claudia came to the U.S. as an international student and earned a degree in International Relations with a concentration in Latin America from SUNY New Paltz. She started her career in International Education working in the Center for International Programs at New Paltz while working toward her degree. She is a native of Colombia where she enjoyed a successful career as a lawyer. In addition to her law degree, she studied Finance at the graduate level. Combining these areas of expertise, she worked for more than eight years in Colombia, first in the legal department of the country's largest national bank, and then as a project manager in charge of trusts for an international bank and trust.
