International Student and Scholar Services Manager

Emily (Quackenbush) Brew is the International Student and Scholar Services Manager within the Office of Global Affairs.  Her responsibilities include providing general advice and referral for SUNY campuses on non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories as well as consultation and training to SUNY campuses, as needed, regarding services for international students and scholars.  She also serves as the Responsible Officer for the SUNY J-1 Exchange Visitor Consortium and is responsible for monitoring visa and related immigration regulations, advising system administration on necessary adjustments to SUNY policy, practice, and compliance pertaining to international student and scholar services (ISSS) and convening ISSS personnel system-wide for purposes of consultation and professional development. 

Emily’s background in international education sparked from a study abroad experience in Australia during the Sydney Olympics.  Since then, she has worked in both study abroad and international student and scholar advising and has had the opportunity to visit many more countries through her work.  She has previously has worked at a number of public and private institutions, including University at Buffalo and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry.  Emily has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from SUNY Oswego and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University.  Emily is also very active in NAFSA, and has served as Past Chair for NAFSA Region X's Team, and is currently an active member for the Trainer Corps.
