R. Bruce McBride is Commissioner of Police for the State University of New York.

He coordinates law enforcement operations for SUNY’s 64 campuses in such areas as emergency response, recruitment and training, crime trends, and crime prevention and detection. He is the University’s chief liaison officer for various state and federal law enforcement entities.

Dr. McBride retired from the University in 2000 as Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Life and Police and then went on to serve as Executive Director for the Department of Economic Crime, Cybersecurity, and Justice Studies at Utica College. He returned to SUNY in October 2012. He is the co-author of textbooks on police management, security, and field experience education.

He holds degrees from Oswego and the University at Albany.
