James J. Campbell is currently Director of Legislative Relations for the State University of New York having joined the SUNY System in 1988.  Prior to joining the SUNY System, Mr. Campbell worked in the NYS Assembly as staff to Assemblymen Andrew Virgilio and Alan Hevesi and served as Director of the Assembly Task Force on the Disabled until 1988. In 1987 the New York Society for the Deaf awarded Mr. Campbell with their President's Award in recognition of his services to persons with disabilities in New York State. The Disabled Student Services Program of the State University of New York at Albany presented Mr. Campbell, in 1988, a certificate of merit for his services to the disabled community.

Mr. Campbell obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the State University College of Arts and Science at Plattsburgh in December of 1976. While at Plattsburgh, he was elected president of the student association.
