Developing a Culture of Respect on Campus

January 12, 2017  |  January 31, 2017

Culture of Respect, now a division of NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, was founded in 2013 to assist college campuses in prevention and response to violence. Among the tools developed have been the CORE (Culture of Respect Engagement) Blueprint, a six-point strategic roadmap that engages all constituent groups— students, parents, faculty, administrators, health professionals, athletes and more – in implementing those leading practices to shift campus culture to one free from sexual violence. The CORE Blueprint is prescriptive in its broad strategy while flexible in specific implementation. It includes a robust self-assessment (the CORE Evaluation) for schools to measure their progress as they answer the call to foster a Culture of Respect and ensure that all students are safe to pursue the promise of higher education. SUNY New Paltz is one of the CORE Blueprint Pilot campuses, helping to test and refine the program. In this webinar, the Senior Director of Culture of Respect, and the Executive Director for Compliance and Campus Climate at New Paltz will introduce and discuss Culture of Respect and provide information from both a program and campus perspective.
