Under the leadership of Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, The State University of New York embarked on an ambitious strategic visioning process in 2009, which resulted in The Power of SUNY strategic plan launched in 2010. That vision is currently guiding the SUNY system through a 5-10 year transformative process. As part of this process, the Office of Strategic Planning and Accountability was established in 2009 at the recommendation of the Board of Trustees. In accordance with the recommendation, the office reports to the Chancellor and provides analytical support and planning for resolving short and long-term fiscal and programmatic plans for SUNY.
The Office of Strategic Planning and Accountability coordinates The Power of SUNY implementation, the SUNY Report Card, and SUNY’s branding and marketing. Strategic Planning and Accountability also partners with Academic Affairs in coordinating the annual Critical Issues in Higher Education Conference. As a part of The Power of SUNY implementation, the office oversees and assists several initiatives that have been created in support of The Power of SUNY.
The Office is committed to the underlying goal of The Power of SUNY—to facilitate the economic revitalization of New York State and create a better quality of life for all its citizens.
