Mark J. Lemire joined the State University of New York as an Associate Counsel in November 2011 after practicing in private practice for almost ten years. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Mark worked for a Saratoga County law firm as a Senior Associate handling employment, education, municipal and civil rights litigation matters. He came back to the Albany area after working for nine years in the New York City offices of two large international law firms. Mark’s New York practice focused on complex commercial litigations and arbitrations in the areas of labor and employment, white collar investigations, securities class actions, accounting malpractice, intellectual property and contract and licensing disputes. He also advised corporate clients on transactional matters, including acquisitions of technology companies and participated in numerous pro bono activities. Mark graduated from Albany Law School magna cum laude in 2001. At law school, he was an editor for the Albany Law Review, a Moot Court Board member and competed on the national trial team. Prior to attending law school, Mark worked in health related fields for a number of years. He is a 1995 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Mark is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York and in the Northern, Southern and Eastern Federal District Courts, as well as, the Second Circuit. In his present position, Mark is responsible for overseeing all legal matters for SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
