Important Dates:

Initially established in 2003 as CAFI (Chancellor’s Award for Internationalization), the Chancellor’s Grant for Innovative Study Abroad Programs has supported the development of 65 unique program opportunities for SUNY students to study abroad in traditionally underrepresented regions and academic fields.  The continued investment in increasing possibilities for students throughout all courses and degrees to benefit from the life-long impact of studying abroad supports the creation of "a globally competent student body," as part of the SUNY and the World pillar of the Power of SUNY strategic plan.

In 2014, Chancellor Nancy Zimpher affirmed SUNY’s commitment to Generation Study Abroad, an initiative of the Institute for International Education (IIE) to double participation in study abroad by 2020.  For more information, see:  The ISAP Grant is one of the ways in which the Office of Global Affairs and the SUNY Council on International Education (CIE) are working together toward attaining this ambitious goal.
