Demystifying the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination

In this webinar Kaylin Dawson, a Sexual Assault Nurse Coordinator at Albany Medical Center and Nancy Harris, an Adult Nurse Practitioner at St. Peter's Hospital will demystify the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination for college and community professionals who may be called upon to advise student and employee victims. The webinar will explain the purpose of the exam, how the exam works, and provide plain-language explanations that can be used in advising and guiding victims and survivors. In addition, Shelby Foster, an attorney in the New York State Office of Victim Services who oversees the Forensic Rape Exam Direct Reimbursement Program, will explain the legal requirement that forensic exams be provided to victims free of charge, and further availability of funds for related injuries.
