The Office of Academic Health and Hospital Affairs at SUNY System Administration helps to support the mission, operations, and strategic goals of SUNY's Academic Health Centers (AHCs), the College of Optometry, and the Long Island State Veterans' Home, as well as SUNY’s broader academic health and health professions portfolio, providing consultative and implementation assistance with policy, strategic and operational planning and execution.
In addition, OAHHA provides support and counsel to the SUNY Board of Trustees, its Committee on Academic Medical Centers & Hospitals, and the SUNY system and campus leaders and supports select SUNY and New York State-wide health and wellness initiatives, such as SUNY’s 'Healthier NY' program.

An educator-scientist-physician-executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in higher education, research, and academic healthcare, Dr. Ricardo Azziz currently serves as Chief Officer of Academic Health and Hospital Affairs, State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration, the largest university system in the nation. In this role he provides support, strategic oversight, guidance, and advocacy for the educational, research and clinical programs within the SUNY academic health and health professions portfolio, representing over 30% of SUNY’s total annual $13.3 billion budget.
