Internships & Employment Opportunities

Counsel’s Office located in System Administration, Albany, New York, hosts two law student interns in both the Fall and Spring semesters, and two in the summer. Interns conduct legal research, write guidance memos and draft responses, and participate in short term and long term legal projects. SUNY interns regularly have the opportunity to meet with and counsel system and campus clients, present and train audiences large and small, obtain practice orders to directly perform legal advocacy work, and develop guidance for SUNY institutions as well as colleges and universities across the United States.

For more information, contact Internship Directors Joseph Storch or Elise Rosen Puzio.

Learn more and apply online here. Please note: If you cannot upload all documents individually, you may combine cover letter, resume and transcript into one PDF and upload it as a single document.

Internships for the summer and semesters at Counsel's Office are usually filled far in advance.  Students may apply for internships at any time. Counsel's Office will consider applications on a rolling basis and is happy to interview students for placement in future semesters or a future summer. If you would like to know the status of your application, or learn whether a semester or summer position has already been filled, please contact Internship Administrative Coordinator Michael Middleton at 518-320-1400.
