Transfer and Articulation

Transfer and Articulation

The State University of New York endeavors to be the most transfer friendly system of higher education in the nation. The Division of Student Success is continually developing new policies, procedures, services, and tools in partnership with shared governance and other SUNY offices to be sure SUNY students can seamlessly transfer between SUNY institutions.

This page is intended to provide campus faculty, staff and administrators with important information and tools related to student transfer and articulation initiatives.

Signature Transfer Initiatives

SUNY Transfer Task Force
The SUNY Transfer Task Force was established to bring together experts from across the SUNY System to be assured that transfer opportunities - particularly vertical transfer between associate and baccalaureate programs - are more fully realized.

Cross Registration
The SUNY cross-registration policy was developed to promote timely degree completion by providing access to courses at other SUNY campuses through a centralized application.

Reverse Transfer
Reverse transfer allows students to transfer the credits they have earned at a SUNY four-year institution back to a SUNY community college. SUNY Community Colleges are able to review the courses that have been taken at the four-year SUNY institution and determine if the combination of credits earned meet the requirements for an associate degree.

Student Mobility Steering Committee (SMSC)
The Student Mobility Steering Committee is a SUNY shared-governance standing committee that assumes the duties of the SUNY Transfer Review Committee and the SUNY Joint Committee on Transfer and Articulation.

SUNY Transfer Paths

SUNY Transfer Paths
SUNY has created Transfer Paths that summarize common lower division requirements shared by all SUNY campuses most disciplines.

Transfer Path Dashboard
The dashboard is the source of record for campus courses designated as Transfer Path courses. Users can sort by sector, campus, academic discipline, and course number.

Transfer Path Adjustments
Additions, modifications and deletions of campus Transfer Path courses must be vetted through an appropriate oversight process on the campus. Once courses have been locally approved, please use the Transfer Path Course Adjustment Form to submit your requests.
