The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence is an amazing accomplishment, one that could not have been achieved without your support. Students are encouraged to invite up to four people to attend the ceremony, people who have helped them to achieve this prestigious award.

Questions and Answers

How are recipients selected?
Campuses set up a committee to review nominations for the award and send their nominations to the State University of New York System Administration, where a selection committee reviews all nominations.

How can I attend?
Each student award recipient can bring up to four guests. Students are required to RSVP by Monday, April 6, 2026.

Where and when do I need to be on April 26?
The ceremony is on Monday, April 27, 2026 at the Albany Capital Center in downtown Albany, NY.  The ceremony starts at 2:00 p.m.; however, we ask that guests be seated at 1:45 p.m. There are designated seats for the award recipients and campus presidents or designees; all other seating is open for guests.

Will I be able to take photos during the event?
You will be allowed to take photos during the event. We will also have a professional photographer to capture the ceremony. A picture will be taken with each award recipient, the Chancellor, and their campus representative. For student recipients who provided consent when they RSVP’d, their photos will be posted to the SUNY Facebook page after the event. Photos will also be provided to the campuses to distribute to their award recipients. We anticipate all photos to be posted and available by the end of May.
