The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence is an amazing accomplishment, one that could not be achieved without your support. Students are encouraged to invite up to four people to attend the ceremony, people who have helped them to achieve this prestigious award.

Questions & Answers

How are recipients selected?
Each campus is different but many campuses set up a committee to review nominations for the award. Campuses then send their nominations to the State University of New York System Administration, where a selection committee reviews all nominations using a rubric. Selection committee members included campus staff, students and system administration staff.

How can I attend?
Each award recipient can bring up to four guests. The award recipient should include the name of each guest on his/her RSVP.

Where and when do I need to be on April 24th?
The Ceremony and Reception takes place on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 at the Albany Capital Center. It is important that the recipients leave their coats, purses and/or other belongings with you or at the coat check prior to signing in a separate student only room. The event starts at 2pm; however, we ask that guests be seated at 1:30pm. There are designated seats for the award recipients and campus presidents or designees; all other seating is open for guests.

Will I be able to take photos during the event?
You will be allowed to take photos during the event. In addition, a professional photographer will be capturing the moment. Photos will be posted to the SUNY Facebook page after the event.
