The 2022 Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence is being held at the Hall of Springs in the Saratoga Spa State Park. This new location presents the need to be familiar with new services and activities, like accomodations, cultural events, and dining options.
Fun Facts About Saratoga:
- The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) is an amphitheater and is the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York City Ballet.
- Since 2006, the Saratoga Native American Festival has been held on SPAC grounds every fall
- Saratoga’s New Year’s celebration First Night Saratoga is the largest New Year’s Eve event in New York outside of NYC
- 12 Years a Slave (2013) was shot in Saratoga
- Whitney Houston’s music video for “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” the second single from her studio album, was filmed at SPAC in 1987
- It is believed that the club sandwich was invented in the Canfield Casino in 1894
- Walt Disney World Resort has a themed resort called Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, whose theme and design was inspired by the city
- The Walt Disney World Railroad station at Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom was modeled after and closely resembles the former Victorian era railroad depot that once stood in downtown Saratoga Springs
- Caffe Lena is the oldest continuously running folk venue in the country and features established and emerging musicians, poets, and storytellers
