Cara Palumbo Schrantz joined the State University of New York Office of General Counsel (OGC) in 2016 and currently serves as a Deputy General Counsel. Within OGC, Cara oversees the Litigation & Labor and General Affairs & Intellectual Property practice groups, and also works extensively on legal issues related to legislative affairs and the community colleges. Prior to joining SUNY, Cara was an Assistant Counsel to the Governor in the New York State Office of Counsel to the Governor, where she concentrated on K-12 education and higher education issues. She also previously worked as a law clerk to Judge Lawrence E. Kahn, Northern District of New York, and as a Senior Legislative Budget Analyst in the New York State Assembly Ways and Means Committee, concentrating on education budget issues.
Cara received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University, College of Human Ecology.
