Cara Palumbo Schrantz

Cara Palumbo Schrantz joined the State University of New York Office of General Counsel in 2016 as Assistant Counsel and Special Liaison to the Office of Government Relations, later becoming Associate Counsel. In this position, she provides legal support to the SUNY Colleges at Oneonta and New Paltz, as well as legislative and other legal assistance to the SUNY System Administration Office of Government Relations. Prior to joining SUNY, Cara was an Assistant Counsel to the Governor in the New York State Office of Counsel to the Governor, where she concentrated on K-12 education and higher education issues. She also previously worked as a law clerk to Judge Lawrence E. Kahn, Northern District of New York, and as a Senior Legislative Budget Analyst in the New York State Assembly Ways and Means Committee, concentrating on education budget issues. Cara received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University, College of Human Ecology. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of Massachusetts (inactive).
