John Sierotnik

John Sierotnik joined the Office of General Counsel in September 2018 as an Assistant Counsel at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. In this position John provides legal counsel to Upstate on contracts, student affairs, and other issues affecting the university. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, John served as an associate attorney at Mackenzie Hughes LLP in Syracuse, New York. John earned his bachelors of arts, cum laude, from Catholic University in 2005. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2014 where he was honored as a Dean’s Circle Fellow. At Notre Dame John served as an Article Editor on the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics and Public Policy and received Dean’s Awards in Legal Writing II, Cyberlaw, Professional Responsibility, Evidence, IT Law, Trusts & Estates, Taxation of Business Enterprises, and Real Estate Transactions. John is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.
