Kelly Berger joined the SUNY Office of General Counsel in 2020, and currently serves as Chief Campus Counsel to the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Kelly's legal career started in the Onondaga County Law Department, working for over a decade on various transactional projects, counseling officials, and liaising with governing boards. She then worked in private practice, where she advocated for children in custody and neglect cases within Family Court.
Before attending law school, Kelly completed two terms of AmeriCorps service with Catholic Charities in Syracuse, working with diverse populations on the city's northside. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Syracuse University College of Law, magna cum laude, as well as a Master's of Science in Cultural Foundations in Education, Certificate of Advanced Studies in Disability Studies, from the Syracuse University College of Education. Kelly also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from SUNY Polytechnic, Technology Management/Human Resources. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and German Studies from Cornell University.
Kelly has taught Business Law at Onondaga Community College and Land Use Law at SUNY College of College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
As an active community member, Kelly volunteers with Girl Scouts and other groups.
