Michael P. Pasternack is Senior Campus Counsel for The State University of New York Office of General Counsel. He joined SUNY in February 2015. He serves as legal counsel to Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, Long Island State Veterans Home, and the Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center.
From 2011-2015 he was Counsel in the health law practice of Farrell Fritz, PC, where he advised hospitals, nursing homes, health professionals, and nonprofit agencies. Previously, Mr. Pasternack was General Counsel and Compliance Officer to St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children.
He is a graduate of Hofstra University and Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. After law school he studied health policy and management at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Mr. Pasternack obtained a certificate in Health Care Risk Management from University of South Florida, and is Certified in Healthcare Compliance by the Compliance Certification Board.
