SD-WAN Networking
SD-WAN Networking The primary objective of this service is to provide SUNY campuses and partners with secure site-to-site virtual private networking between SUNY University-wide Datacenters along with future focused features. We work closely with local IT staff at each campus or program to customize a deployment model that provides the best fit approach for the customer while providing a complete and flexible secure networking solution.
We have several common deployment options that include the provisioning of a SUNYNet-managed SD-WAN device that would process all encrypted traffic as it ingresses and egresses campus networks. This approach will allow campus IT staff to leverage the SUNYNet Team to remotely manage, monitor and administer the device for a no-hassle, hands-off experience. The campus IT staff will also have the option to monitor their network environment using VMware SD-WAN Orchestrator (VCO).
No matter what the preference, SUNYNet is willing to discuss your location's individual needs and provide the best possible implementation to address them.
Service Overview:
- Campus and SUNYNet Team discuss business needs and cooperatively develop an implementation plan to provide secure communications between SUNY Campuses and offices.
- SUNYNet offers a series of VMware VeloCloud devices provisioned and supported by SUNYNet that will act as a service endpoint.
- Monitoring of the operational health and utilization of the device is provided with the option of alerting the campus when we are unable to reach their network.
- A wide array of options to customize the service and create a best fit for SUNYNet and the campus IT department.
Benefits:
- Cloud VPN- operates a distributed network of gateways deployed around the world. Gateways optimize data paths from Edge devices to applications in the cloud, branches and data centers along with the ability to deliver network services to and from the cloud through service insertion.
- SD-WAN Orchestrator (VCO)- Administration, management and support for the SUNYNet-provisioned device is all performed by the SUNYNet NOC and, optionally, may be co-managed by campus IT.
- Dynamic Multi-Path Optimization (DMPO)- DMPO provides automatic link monitoring and per-packet traffic steering, auto-detection of provider and auto-configuration of link characteristics, routing and QOS settings. DMPO delivers sub-second blackout and brownout protection to improve application availability.
- Optimize Access to SaaS and Cloud- All traffic traversing the overlay tunnel (VCMP) gets the benefit of Dynamic Multi-Path Optimization (DMPO).
- Application Visibility- Recognition and classification of 2,500+ applications and sub-applications without the need to deploy separate hardware or software probes within each branch location. The solution intelligently learns applications and adds them to the cloud-based application database.
