Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
The Committee shall serve as a key resource for professional guidance to the Faculty Council of Community Colleges (FCCC) and provide informed recommendations to SUNY on matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The Committee’s work shall focus on identifying challenges, fostering inclusive practices, and promoting policies that advance equity and belonging across SUNY community colleges.
Responsibilities of the Committee may include, but are not limited to:
- Data Collection and Analysis – Gather and analyze data to identify areas within DEI that require additional attention and support.
- Program and Policy Advocacy – Support and promote programs, services, and policies that enhance DEI initiatives for the benefit of faculty, staff, and students.
- Best Practice Implementation – Develop and recommend actionable strategies to facilitate the adoption of DEI best practices.
- Curricular Integration – Strengthen and expand the connections between DEI and General Education requirements to ensure inclusive and representative curricula.
- Collaboration and Outreach – Foster partnerships and coordinate efforts with other SUNY entities, governance bodies, and external organizations to advance DEI initiatives.
Committee Liaisons
Liaisons to the Committee shall include representatives from key governance and administrative bodies to ensure broad engagement and alignment of DEI efforts. These representatives shall include, but are not limited to:
- A representative from the UFS;
- A representative from the Student Assembly;
- One or more representatives from SUNY System
- Additional representatives as deemed necessary to support the Committee’s mission
This Committee shall play a critical role in ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion remain at the forefront of decision-making and implementation across SUNY community colleges.
